Katie has loved ballet and dance from a young age. Growing up in Roanoke, she studied at Star City School of Ballet and with Southwest Virginia Ballet’s training company. Katie has been teaching ballet and dance from the age of 17 and loves sharing her love of the arts with her students. She continued studying dance and musical theater at Samford University. Katie completed her undergraduate degree in Vocal Studies from Liberty University, and is continuing as a graduate student in the School of Divinity. Katie has danced for 15 years studying ballet, pointe, and jazz. She has been involved in many productions of the nutcracker and performed as the Sugar Plum Fairy in 2015 with Philip Skaggs from the Richmond Ballet. Katie has also performed principal and soloist roles in performances including Cinderella, Ties, Coppelia, and Romeo and Juliet. While Katie loves performing and teaching, she also has a passion for backstage work and loves stage managing for ballet and theater productions. Above all, Katie is passionate about encouraging students to pursue a life long love of ballet and dance.
