All hair must be secured away from face. Hair must be in bun for ballet/pointe.
Students who are not dressed properly will be required to observe. Proper attire aids in learning/performance and allows teachers to effectively view alignment/turnout.
Creative Movement, Age 3
Pre-ballet/creative dance class (no tap). Introduction to dance using music, singing, props, stories, and creativity to activate imagination, increase body awareness, enhance socialization and establish sense of joy through movement. Not in annual show.
Light pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Pink ballet skirt optional.
Combination Classes, Ages 4-8
Age-appropriate technique in ballet and tap. 7 and 8 year old combos also include jazz. Proper vocabulary and movement sequences with enhanced awareness and creativity.
Light pink leotard and pink tights. Pink ballet skirt optional. Shoes: Ages 4-6: pink leather ballet shoes, and black patent leather tap shoes. Ages 7 & 8: pink leather ballet shoes, black leather oxford tap shoes, and tan leather slip-on jazz shoes. Classical technique taught with emphasis on proper body, foot, and arm placement. As student progresses, more complicated combinations, turns, and leaps are included.
Solid colored leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. We recommend a canvas ballet shoe for Ballet 1 and above. Ballet is required for students who wish to take jazz through Level 2 as well as modern, lyrical, and acro.
By invitation only. A mandatory precursor to pointe with an emphasis on strength, placement, and balance to prepare the dancer for pointe work. Pre-pointe is traditionally taken in conjunction with Ballet 3. Not in annual show.
Solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Teacher will decide if student is ready to purchase pointe shoes.
By invitation only. Must also be enrolled in ballet. Emphasizes proper placement, correct usage of pointe shoes, and sequential progression of technique.

Emphasis placed on clarity of sounds, rhythm, timing, coordination and style.
Any color leotard and tights or dance top/shorts. Jazz pants may be worn if fitted around the knees. Black leather oxford tap shoes.
Ages 7 and up. Stylized movement with an emphasis on lines and strength. Classes include stretching/conditioning, walks, turns, extensions, across-the-floor patterns, and combinations. 7 & 8 year old students have jazz with their ballet/tap combo.
Ballet is required for students who wish to take jazz through Level 2. Any color leotard and tights or dance top/shorts. Jazz pants may be worn if fitted around the knees. Tan leather slip-on jazz shoes.
Combo of ballet and jazz with contemporary elements and emphasis on expressivity.
Must be enrolled in Ballet. Any color leotard and tights or dance top/shorts. Jazz pants may be worn if fitted around the knees. Tan leather pirouette shoes.
Elements from many contemporary styles and methods. Focuses include weight, isolation, suspension, contract/release, and basic human movement. Students will be exposed to a variety of techniques including Bartenieff Fundamentals, Cunningham, Limon, and others. Through committed experimentation, students will push their boundaries of expression through movement and improvisation.
Must be enrolled in Ballet. Any color leotard and tights or leggings/shorts. No shoes.
Ages 8 and up. (Hippity Hop also available for ages 5-7). Fun, energetic style derived from a variety of street and other popular forms to upbeat, age-appropriate music. Performs in both shows.
Loose-fitting top and shorts/pants. The studio requires a special pair of tennis shoes – available at Carolina Connection. Shoe info: Glam Pie Glitter Sneaker in Black by Pastry brand.
Ages 6 and up. Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills! Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Dancers are guided towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, and muscle control. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, and more all to each student’s individual level of experience. And it’s fun, too!
Solid colored leotard and stirrup or footless tights. No shoes. Must also be enrolled in ballet or combo class. All acro classes perform in both shows.
Tank top or t-shirt, dance pants/shorts.
Black ballet shoes, tan leather slip on jazz shoes, black tap shoes, black converse tennis shoes with black laces for Hip Hop.
